We have carefully followed the events of the last few days in front of the building of the Cuban Ministry of Culture in Havana. We the undersigned share different ideological positions but coincide in our rejection of any violent state action. We support the current dialogue despite not all being physically present.

All those who are committed to the good of Cuba and the preservation of its national sovereignty, independence, and the homeland’s integrity are welcome to sign.

It is our believe that the much-needed reconciliation in Cuba and between Cubans, regardless of where they live, can only be achieved through a dialogue based in ethics, social justice, inclusion, democracy, and in a rejection of all forms of discrimination.

We demand that the legislative timetable and the 12th transitory constitutional provision, both violated, be complied with, and that all lower-ranking legal norms that contradict the constitution and the development of our model of the rule of law, its rights, freedoms, and guarantees, be reviewed. It is imperative that there is compliance with such demands for the full realization of a democratic republic, the complete enforcement of legality, rule of law, respect for human rights and political pluralism, and, for the respect for the environment.

We believe that a dialogue between all members of the Cuban civil society is needed, as evidenced in the spontaneous and autonomous sit-in outside the Ministry of Culture. Hopefully, this is a first step to advance further articulations and consensus with other social subjects and entities of our society.

We believe that in order to overcome all forms of violence and discrimination, it is necessary to substitute the language of political polarization by one based in the promotion of human rights.

Our proposal transcendent borders, ideologies and creeds.

We reject any violent and repressive action and demand respect for spaces of dialogue within the framework of the laws and the Constitution. We believe in the power of peaceful confrontation through peaceful dialogue.
